That's correct. Actually, it's in FAA Order 7340.1,
Contractions. That order has the Alon listed as a manufacturer with ERCO
listed as the identifier designator. If you look in FAA Order 7110.65, Air
Traffic Control, appendix A, you'll find it listed under Mooney as the
manufacturer, with ERCO still the designator. For purposes of
communications in this day and age Ercoupe (Aircoupe) is a pretty rare
communications with ATC. However, most controllers would be more likely to
understand what it was as opposed to calling yourself Forney or Alon.
