Title: Fuel leak
----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

Hello Mike,
Rodger, rodger, on what Hartmut and Ed had to say.
John Wright Jr did both the main tanks on my M-10.
I "box-em" up and sent them to him and got them back a short time.  I am very satisfied with the work he did on mine.

Mike.
Your tank needs to be overhauled.
You can de-rivet the tank yourself, clean and reassemble with a good A&P if the corrosion is not all to bad.
Sloshing the tank might be an option too, but any corrosion inside will progress and your tank will soon start leaking again.
Other than that you might send the tank to John Wright.
I am reusing a message, Ed Burkhead wrote a while ago, covering the topic as well.

"John Wright, Jr., rebuilds tanks to like-new quality.  He replaces any
metal that needs to be replaced.  Sometimes, the only thing kept is the
outlet and filler.  The resulting tank looks new to my eye.  He did one
of my tanks - very beautifully.

I don't think he uses any sloshing.  In fact, I think he mentioned once
that sloshing isn't legal on our tanks but if he said it, it was a
casual comment that I can't confirm.  If anyone has positive information
about the legality of sloshing Coupe tanks, you might like to comment.
Still, a sloshed tank is inferior to a rebuilt tank.

John, Jr., has a day job AND he restores and paints planes on the side,
too, so there's a limit on how many tanks he can rebuild but I'd suggest
you contact him.  His contact info is:

"
Have a good look inside the other tank too. Very often it is both that are affected.

Hartmut
,

Am new to this list, and am seeking some advice!  My newly acquired Alon has a small fuel leak around 2 rivets on the left wing tank and am trying to figure out options, if any?  Replacing the tank, $1700 plus installation is quite expensive!! Any help /advice would be appreciated.

Regards,

Mike Mower
