Hey Tim: That is a strange looking instrument light, but I am sure that
someone has seen one like it.
As far as question #1 goes, there are several items
to check. Depending on the serial number of your Coupe, it could have felt
pieces used to block air flow, or rubber fastened to the baffles. It is
important that these pieces seal completely. Secondly, the cooling is done by
pressure differential between the top and bottom of the engine. If the openings
for the carburetor and/or the oil tank cooling (bottom two openings in the nose
bowl) are too far away from the baffling or air box, air spills around the
baffling/air box and the pressure differential is not large enough to cool the
engine properly. Closing the spaces between the openings and the baffle/air box
will create the proper pressure differential and thus the proper cooling.
This can be accomplished through adding baffle
strips or adjusting the position of the nose bowl.

Question #1
Reading the old Coupe Club newsletters I see a lot of talk about engine
overheating. Since starting my coupe restoration I have moved to
TX. What to I need to do to assure that I am not going to have
overheating problems with my C 85?
