--- Begin Message --- Hi Coupers,I had an interesting thing happen on the way back from a 4 hour fight. Midway back I noticed that my ammeter was showing negative.just enough to get my attention.I had my transpondr, radio, GPS,strobe,intercom,George Forman grill,and air conditioning on.NOW WHAT? shut off the George Forman? --no!! Anyway, Now I'm worried about the Gen or Reg or both. So I got some electrical (approved ) generator brush cleaner and sprayed a little (after removing the cooling tube) on the brushes.Then I popped the cover from the Reg and cleaned the contacts.Yelled clear and started the mighty 85 . IT STILL SHOWED A DISCHARGE :(. Now i'n floored I thought I had it.I flew up to another mechanic who was better at these kinda things.He had a harness all made up and connected up whatever he though would reveal the culprit.Any of you out there have and idea what was wrong .try and figure it out if you have other questions to help pinpoint the problem ask away. enquiring minds ??
