Hey Dennis: I have sealed several, and the first thing I will tell you is
to find out how big the gap is. If it is about the size of your little finger,
you can split a piece of hose, glue it to the lip of the air inlet, and the gap
will be partially sealed. If the gap is larger, you can cut a piece of rubber
baffling, that will go around the air inlet, and fasten it to the inlet with a
couple pieces of scrap aluminum using either screws or rivets. This means will
allow you to completely seal the gap.
I have found several Coupes with broken or missing
baffling, which adds to the problem. A piece which is often missing is the one
that goes from the LH front baffle to the center of the engine. It is an odd
shaped piece, but it fills quite a hole. There are other places, but I will not
go in to them now.
