Harry, the crayon was from the kindergarten class that inspected your plane you lucked out mine was  written  with finger paint  :) den

Someone may have thought of this before, but if not,
have you gone to the FAA registration site and typed
in your N number to see what serial nr is assigned to
that N nr?

I found the s/n of my airplane written in red crayon on the main spars of the wings...I do not know if this was done at the factory or later in a restoration process.
