In regards to comment below:

Light weight aluminum may be easy to work with, but
the thicker it is, the more difficult it is to bend and shape with out
stretching and tearing.
If you remember, Kaiser Frazer (which I have
several) planned on making car bodies and suspension part out of these light
materials. They did produce some bodies (with much difficulty) to prove it could
be done, but they were never produced for market. Kaiser Aluminum was owned by
Henry J. Kaiser.
Don't fret too much about your problems. Remember,
Moses started out as a basket case.
