I just found the "perfect" cockpit fresh intake vent air cover....simple,
no cost, and disposable.
Perhaps all cockpit intake fresh air holes are not the same, but I think
so..
Also, early coupes did not have fresh air inlet holes in the nose
cowl....so this applies only to later models and to modified earlier
models.
As the weather gets cooler, one hopes to keep out the cold air...and the
fresh air inlet valve just doesn't do a very good job.....so, finding a
cover seems easy. In the past I have just used a cover of tape, placed over the
hole..works fine....
Yesterday, as I starter to fly, I thought, gosh It sure would be good to
find a simple cover. I had stopped at Hardie's for a small cup of
coffee.....foam cup type..
The bottom of the cup fit exactly in the air inlet hole. I carefully
cut the bottom of the cup off, about 3/16 inch up the cup......and
installed the new cover in place...bottom side to the screen. The sides of the
cover nicely lock into place without any tape, etc., and stayed there throughout
my 2 hour flight....
