Lee,

A memory is tickling me that the arm that reaches inside the crankcase and
rubs on the ?crankshaft? to activate the pump is different on some different
models of the engine.

Be sure you are using the correct arm. Jon Hines, an old-time Coupe guru,
now deceased, used to emphasize this difference.

I seem to recall, Jon saying you could reuse the actuator arm from your old
fuel pump since that hardly ever fails.

I also seem to recall Jon also describing it as a tractor fuel pump.

I think may have been the procedure that the identical pump, specially
inspected for aircraft quality, is what was probably approved for the
aircraft - not actually the tractor fuel pump.

You also should notice all the "seem to recall" and similar cautions in this
note. I'm certainly not an expert but I do "seem to recall" what I've
written.

Indeed, this issue has been talked about many times before. Could someone
with solid knowledge of this subject write up a good page for inclusion in
the Maintenance Hints and Tips page, please?
