One problem encountered with many insurers depends upon how much value you
want your plane insured for. I learned that those underwriters (nearly all)
that rely on Blue Book are limited to some pretty low values for our
'Coupes, since the Blue Book is based on dealer reports, and few Ercoupes
these days are sold through dealers, because the demand for the Light Sport
legal ones is higher than supply. The Blue Book values lag considerably
behind the rising market value of our planes.

The way I coped with this was to go to Avemco for a quote. They are outside
the usual insurance mainstream, and use their own agents and have their own
underwriting rules, not the same agents who write for (e.g.) AIG and others.
Avemco had no problem grasping or accepting the rising value of Ercoupes,
and were quite ready to put the agreed value I wanted on my plane. The only
catch was that my existing insurance carrier, AIG, would charge me a stiff
cancellation penalty. So I took the Avemco quote to AIG, and AIG agreed to
match it to compete.

I have been with happy with Global Aerospace through Falcon through
the EAA. I have $25,000 hull, no deductible on ground or air damage,
and usual liability coverage, all for $700 a year. I think the EAA
involvement takes the deductibles to 0. Also, I had a small claim
last year (when I landed in a wheat field) and they covered all the
costs of removing the wings and trucking the plane to the nearest
airport and actually THANKED me for keeping damages to a minimum!
They still reduced my rate because my hours had increased to 250 (I'm
a new pilot).
