So,

It appears that for no-rudder-pedal operations, I should remove the snubber
cable on my nose gear so that I can maximize my nose wheel contact time with
the ground as my nose comes up in crosswind take-offs. That way I can steer
longer til my speed builds up.

Those of you who ask how to make short field tateoffs need to go out
and learn Ercoupe flying and the planes ability..Go out on a nice calm
day and taxi onto the runway, hold the yoke full back ,open the
throttle and steer the aircraft, hold that wheel back all the way.The
aircraft will not rotate until ready to fly. After takeoff let off on
the back pressure and fly . The crosswind t.o. is the same By the way
if you have not tried so called stalls in your coupe go to
altitude, come back on the power, slow to 65 ,push on the power and pull
up on the elev. The aircraft should climb straight with an occasional
nose dip .Next fromlevel flight power off full up elevator youfeal
like ypu are standing still, look at altimiter you are falling like a
rock. These manuvers will teach you more about yourcoupe . Glenn
