Ed, I don't really think that I'm the person to be one of the
moderators. I'm up to my ears in Waco CG-4A glider restoration, plus
I'm the secretary, treasurer, newsletter editor and Young Eagles
Coordinator for one EAA chapter, and vice president and Young Eagle
Coordinator for another, plus Region 5 Director for the EOC, plus I'm
hosting the 2008 Ercoupe Nationals. Better to find someone who's less busy.

We'll need some volunteers for moderator. It'd be nice to have two or
three besides myself.
We need people who check the list daily or more often and who tend to
moderate, not inflame, discussions. Hopefully, the role of moderator
will be almost invisible.
I see two needs for moderator:
1. When the first binge of signing up is over, we'll set the options
so new members are moderated at first. As soon as we see that they're
real people, not spam machines, we'll switch them to be unmoderated.
2. Damp down flames with polite suggestions and requests, normally
off the list. (Praise in public, criticize in private.)
3. If it ever comes to that point, we'll jointly discuss the problem
and might ban someone who just won't calm down. With this group, I
doubt we'll ever need to do that. But the ability to do it gives
leverage to those polite suggestions and requests.
So, please suggest good people for moderator or volunteer yourself.
Harry Francis (CALAXA) had previously volunteered and if he's willing
I think he'd be a good person. Syd, am I remembering right that you
volunteered, too?
(Note: we should transact new discussions on the new groups. I
propose to haunt the old groups for a couple of weeks, sending out
reminders for people that we've moved and guiding posters to the new
locations. I think you can feel free to drop your old-group
membership pretty soon, if not now.)
