Stainless was one of the required to make a C into CD. In the field the folks just laid a stainless piece on, back at the factory, they used stainless alone. The rest of the airplane is .020 from my experience, but you can call Univair and ask for the thickness of that part.

I have read that it should be replaced with stainless. Does anyone know the type of stainless and the recommended thickness? I believe this change was required if changing from a C to a D. Thanks
