Darrell,
The fuel pumps are now being produced by Aero Accessories
http://www.aeroaccessories.com/ Contact them with your model number and
they should be able to supply you with a new spring.

Just so you don't run out of things to worry about: I pulled the
fuel pump off my C-85 yesterday to address an oil leak problem and
found a broken spring. The spring which sits on top of the lever
was broken in half. Good news is that the pump continued to
function and that both parts of the spring remained on the pump (one
half over the little nib on the pump housing where it normally fits
and the other half sorta entwined in that half). I shudder to think
how much mischief those pieces of spring could have caused it they
had wound up inside the engine case.
Question: Is the replacement spring available as a part and, if so,
from whom? Does someone in the group have a bad pump with a good
spring that I could beg, buy or steal? Should I just try to find a
replacement at the aviation dept. of my local auto parts or hardware
store?
I would have to get out the logs to be sure, but I'm thinking the
previous owner replace this pump about 4 years ago.
