Hello group, My A/P and I are installing a new header tank, purchased from Aircraft Spruce, in N272. Well, it doesn't quite fit.
It's too short to sit on the lip which is on the firewall. An piece of angle aluminum was sent with the tank to 'correct' that problem. While that works, as long as a piece of wood or other material is used to fill in the space between the front of the tank and the firewall lip (to prevent the angle alumium piece from tipping over), the tank is obviously too short. The removed tank, by the way, has similar dimensions, i.e., too short. The aileron cable clamps on the top of the control column scrape the bottom of the (empty) tank. ACS says the tank has to be pushed up more. There doesn't seem to be more room to do so. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Off to the salt mine... Regards, John N272
