There was also some one selling a series of these covers made from aluminum. No

One would think that this should be a no brainier for an opportunistic guy with 
some plastics experience to come along and capitalize on.  Lots of planes of 
the era used exactly the same parts over their wheels and put their own little 
metal logo on them.  Looking at the prices the junk is bringing on Ebay gets me 
wondering!  There was a link to the Cessna 140 group where a fellow showed how 
to make them.
