Frank / Syd / Etal
It isn't quite as easy as Syd says, but not nearly as difficult as
Frank's A&P made it. I have done this job three times. The control
column must be removed as Syd said, but there is also the throttle,
mixture, and carburetor heat cables that must come out. They are
disconnected from the engine and pulled back through the panel into
the cabin. This is not a real big chore but does take time. Especially
the re-install task. The panel does not have to be removed and neither
do the instruments.

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Re: Fuselage Tank Removal and Repair
Thanks, Syd. I wish I knew that before. At least someone else here
can benefit from that advice.
Thanks.

Actually, Frank, the tank (yes, I also have a stainless steel
soldered
tank) will come out without removing the instrument panel by
removing
the control column. The pivot bolt at the bottom is removed after
removing the control shafts at the universal joints, then the
column is
lifted up and forward and it comes out fairly easily. The tank is
dropped down after separating the fuel lines from the tank and
unbolting
the straps. Entire removal job should take about 45 minutes.
Replace
in the opposite order.
