Glen::

Most of us bite the bullet and pay for the parts! The cost of the kit spelled
out in the AD is the result of what TCM charges for them, not anyone else
attempting to get rich off of Ercoupers. If your pal has not paid for a
replacement kit in 7 years that put's his cost at $15.75 per annual, not bad!
Have him get in touch with John Cooper at Skyport.

  Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Fuel Pump issue

  Gang

John Brier is a friend of mine with a 58 Forney. He is not a member of our
users group (but he will be very soon!). He has a question about the AD on the
fuel pump. Can anyone through some light on this for him (us)? Please respond
to the group and I will forward your messages to John.

  Thanks

  Glen

  Fellow Coupe owners,

I have a 1958 Forney, located at the Lakeland Airport here in Fla.

I am having an annual inspection and the mechanic needs to take the top off
the fuel pump to check the screen as required under AD 81-07-06. This involves
a cork gasket and a washer being replaced.

Unfortunately, every vender I have tried wants to sell me a "KIT" with lots
of fuel pump stuff that includes the few items I need. The price is $110.00.
Don't feel that I want to spend this kind of dough every year for a kit when I
only need a few items.

Can any of you advise me of a source for these items? I had to use a
mechanic that is not Coupe savvy as the airplane ran out of annual this fall
before I could get down to move it. He wants new parts and so do I

  The TCM #'s are 643913, 643914, and 643915.

I have had this plane for seven years. I have checked the logs and three
different mechanics did annuals. Never heard a word about these parts. It is my
belief , that if they did inspect the screen per the AD they must have used
the old parts to put it back together. My personal opinion is that they just
pencil whipped this AD and logged it as "CW", which they all did. My mechanic
here is just trying to comply the right way and now I am scratching for these
items.

Would appreciate any advice you may offer.

ps: I will keep the airplane here until spring and then plan on flying it
back to Maine will it will reside permanently. Any Coupe get togethers this
winter in Region 12 I would be interested in attending.

Thanks very much. 1958 Forney N26C.

  Best regards, John Brier

  Glen
