Dan,
Good thinking. Caution and correctly aiming your request is worthwhile. I'm sure the Sport Aviation group at the FAA is pretty tired of lots of people asking for gross weight increases that would allow their planes to be included. That's been asked of them over and over. They've expressed their reasons for NOT including more existing planes. Having said that, I'd also note that they've expressed sympathy over the Ercoupes when asked. You might want to get to know the players by listening to them talk. If you go to http://ultraflightradio.com/ and listen to the archived interviews of the FAA staffers who've come on the show, you'll find out a lot. Ultraflight radio is on every Tuesday at 1 p.m. e.t. or 10 a.m. p.t. If you want, you can sign up for the weekly e-mail notification of the week's program content. I seem to be mostly listening to the show via podcast downloads that I'll listen to on my PC or Ipod. While a lot of topics may not be of interest to certificated aircraft pilots, some do apply, especially the Sport Pilot regulation discussions. Also, they've had an ongoing series in which Jim Sweeney, a CFI, who has given a long refresher course on all piloting ground-school learnable skills. Recommended. Ed
