Yes - the first "or" clause in the paragraph starts out with "older that 30
years"

Wouldn't an antique Ercoupe (30 years or older) fall under section
45.22(B)(1)(i)?
(two inch letters)

Just my interpretation.

EUREKA!

I searched the FARs for "tail numbers", "numbers", "letters", "symbols",
"numerals", "designators", and "digits". Could not find a thing.

But, as I see here, the keyword was "MARKS".

AND the special piece of important info derived was that LSA birds are
allowed to continue to use 3 inch letters. (Nice bit of authenticity
preservation permitted.)

Many thanks for those who offered the helpful direction!

Does anybody know.or have the reference for.the required dimensions for
aircraft tail numbers? Old and new sizes, both.
