Mike, down the street from me is bar with the empennage of a small 
airplane sticking out of it at an acute angle. Obviously some 
taildragger augered in and they decided to keep it as a trophy. Usely 
when such older designs (taildraggers) meet their demise, that is 
usually all that is left to put on display.

So from that, I take the pictures of the Ercoupes on poles in a 
different way. They are displayed with pride as complete airframes 
that have been retired. How many retired jets and warbirds are so 
honored around the country? You don't see too many Champs or 
Taylorcraft displayed this way because they get retired in more ugly 
ways. There is usually not enough left to create such a monument.

Or at least, they is how I like to think of it.
