Currently taking aircraft fuel systems in the ENMU-Roswell 
Aeromaintenance Technician program, I wonder if it could be vapor lock
somewhere.  Consider:
 * Does not occur when cool.  The fuel has condenced back to liquid
because of no heat source.
 * Prime gets the motor running.  Fuel put in by primer after the lock
in the system and it runs.

Please examine your fuel lines for some place that it runs up hill.  And
let us know what you find in any regard.
