An addition to what I just said.
AL said that his rebuild shop uses 20w 50 for their engines.
TCI recomends Phillips 20w 50 for their titan cylinder breakin. I talked to a
tech at TCI and he told me they had done tons of tests to determine this and
that they had no ties to Phillips. They just wanted the best results with their
cylinders.
The biggest thing going on during breakin is the rings seating on the
cylinders. That's where all the heat and metal cutting is going on. If you get
your rings seated with out damaging anything you are over the hump. Use oil
that will be good for the cylinders and the bearings, bushings, cam, etc. should
be OK.

Last year at Oshkosh I picked up a "Engine Care" phamphlet at the Continental
booth. Very worthwhile and interesting reading about NOT babying your engine.
Don't baby it. Kevin is right.

Put in mineral oil and take off and run the piss out of it for about
an hour until the oil temp stabilizes to break it in.
