Greetings,

I found a loose screw on one of the non-structural fairing pieces
that covers the gap at the wing attachment point (I do not know the
correct terminology for this piece). Upon attempting to tighten the
screw, I found that whatever it screws into underneath has very
little bite left, basically it is stripped.

My thought is to replace the screw with the next bigger size. My
question is, what do those screws bite into inside the wing? At
first glance, the screw appears to be an AN526C-style stainless steel
machine screw, maybe 1/2" long. Does it screw directly into sheet
aluminum, some sort of clip, or is there actually a blind nut that
will need replacing?

Assuming there is no blind nut, is the next bigger diameter machine
screw a good choice, or do I need to go to a sheet metal screw?

Thanks,
