"The radio works just fine, problem is for about 10 seconds while near a local FM station tower"
I think that is totally normal. If you coming close to a broadcasting antenna, you are reaching a blind spot. Nothing to worry about. I have had the radio bench tested and, it is ok. I pulled the antenna off and cleaned corrosion off the grounding plate and that helped somewhat. A search of the static cable on the ailerons and elevator revealed that the cable is frayed and nearly broken on all control surfaces. As an owner can I replace these myself or do I need an A&P to do it? Also what are the specs for the cable used? Any help is appreciated. The radio works just fine, problem is for about 10 seconds while near a local FM station tower I can hear the DJ and music in my headset and I can not control the signal with the squelch when I am near their tower. Thanks for the help and any suggestion are appreciated. Chad Surmick Alon A-2 N5479E
