Hi CHip and wife, Welcome to this unpadded cell of unique bird lovers. 
You have gotten good advise from everybody that I have read but no one 
has mentioned a littlle book that I have come to beleive in and use in 
hangar talk as a club to educate the noninformed wwith too many pedals 
to play with.. The book is titled "Ercoupe Instruction Manual" and is a 
publication of UNIVAIR. It may be out of print??? If you ccan get one 
do it it's like Gold in your hand and Fuel in your tanks.  Oliver
