I am finally getting around to installing the Rams Horn yokes I bought several
months ago. We've done the pilots only and Boy, it sticks out a lot farther
from the panel than the originals. The A&P who's doing the work left the same
collar in place. I think we should be able to shorten the shaft and remove the
collar so as to use the yoke itself (and maybe a shorter collar if necessary)
as the forward limiting device. Intuition and atrophied engineering knowledge
tell me that would result in exactly the same result. Butthe A&P says that's
not in the STC and would require FAA approval. What do you think?
