Elicaim,

I have a carb temp gauge on my Marvel Schebler. I
personally think it is a waste of panel space and
useful load. It works well and it is interesting to
see how much the OAT drops as it is going through the
venturi. But it only tells half the story as carb ice
is concerned. The moisture content of the air has to
be just right.

If the OAT is 70F or below, carb ice is possible with
the right conditions. I just keep a watchful eye on
the RPMs and pull carb heat when I think I observe a
drop. If the engine sputters for a second or two and
then smooths out, I know I had carb ice. It works
every time.

Good luck,
Dan
