But you ARE a "private pilot" even when your medical certificate has expired or even been revoked. What you may DO as a private having never had an FAA medical certificate or with an expired FAA medical certificate is different from when your medical certificate has been denied. These things are spelled out in the regs. But the preventive maintenance provision makes no mention of a medical certificate as far as I know. Ed
