Well, you would have to have the 'small-male female removable connector
for power' approved as an installation. You simply cannot get away from
the requirements for modifying a standard category aircraft.

IMHO,

Importance: Low

Tom,
How about if you put your own type gizmo (with small-male female
removable connector for power) in the panel with any item. Does that
make it portable and legal? First what legally makes it a portable unit.
For example a cell phone is portable. A wireless Mac or PC and so on are
they legal as portable units? Of course they are (In terminology they
are glass.) Provided you stay VFR . We may be opening a bag of worms
that has probably been explored by various avionics and instrument
manufactures.
In less then 5 years most manufactures of aircraft are going with glass.
Actually that's the norm. Got any thoughts as to what the Feds are
going through? WOW! The speed and advancements in software technology
may be too much to conceive.
But there's a bigger problem (the Big Picture is FUEL) We're lucky,
smart Coupers just having fun
at 5 GPH looking at fun things to talk about making believe that this,
that or other things matter, and
That's fun too.
