Let's put this to rest before we get into any more. Sonex specifically states
that the carb is not for certificated aircraft. Go to their site and surf
around, you'll get to it. They didn't just say it was for experimental only,
they say not for certificated airplanes. If they did have approval, don't you
think they would be shouting it from the highest points of the world?

There isn't an FAA man alive who would stamp this with a field approval, so the
installation is sans paperwork. Don't waste your time asking. Hell, they have
trouble approving different color knobs for your mixture control!

A licensed aeroplane mechanic didn't do it. If he is licensed, he may soon not
be.

Also, please remember that when you put something onto the internet it's filed
in perpetuity and could come back to bite you in the ass one day. In other
words, post that you've installed unapproved parts and when you crash your
airplane into my house 6 years later, my attorney's investigators will find it
and sue your estate pretty durn good! So will my neighbor's attorneys. Get
the picture?

The carb probably works far better than the one designed 70 years ago, no
doubt. I really thought that with the popularity of the coupe being raised
these old practices would stop. I guess we'll always have those out there who
know better. Now why not go for the STC and see what happens.
