Hello all!

Thought I would add this to the discussion. When I did my Solo Cross
Country, I had this problem on my landings. It happened on all the
airports I landed at which all except 1L4 was paved and one was
uphill. 1L4 is dirt. I had to hold the yoke to the right to keep it
going straight. When I got back to Kidwell I told my Dad what was
happening. We started with checking the nose wheel adjustment to make
sure it was ok and also changed the front wheel barring and changed
the nose wheel. This we did because we were closed to annual and were
going to do it. We did a taxi test and still had the same problem.
Since we had to go into Vegas to get the barring it was late when we
got it back together.

The next morning we went out to check the brakes as the next phase.
We got it jacked up to check the brakes; my Dad had me check the air
pressure in the tire. The brakes looked ok from the back side. Now
here is the point, 99485 has 600 x 6 ply tires on it. These do not
show a lot of difference when they are low on air. This was down to
about 10 lbs. I put it back to 20 lbs., and we did a taxi check
before taking the wheel off to check the brakes. On the taxi it was
all ok. So depending on what kind of tires you have on your planes,
the air pressure is a good place to start.

PS. My Dad is a member of the group, but has been a little under the
weather lately and he will start being active here when he is feeling
better.
