About 2 months ago, I took the plunge and got a 415C. It has a recent
overhaul, and many of the standard improvements... I'm basing the
airplane at an airport 3 hours away next to my father, who has owned
and restored his own coupe when he was younger than I am now.

I've flown it twice now, and I am getting my parts list together for
improvements/fixes. I have an A&P ticket.. but the newsgroup seems to
know their stuff when it comes to the details. Any advice would be
helpful.

>Fuel gauge. Ours is very orange, and the plane had an autofuel STC
at one time. Has anyone replaced the left gauge with a univair
assembly? How did it go?

>Pitot Static. My first flight at the controls, I noticed the plane
would stall power-off at 70mph (indicated/windows open/max weight).
The newly installed airspeed gauge had static was vented to the
cockpit. Is this a valid ercoupe configuration? I'm used to it being
tubed to a static vent.

>Hot sides. The old side panels were pulled, and the left side was a
little toasty in flight. The exhaust is pretty close to the skin
there. Are side panels a necessity for the heat shielding?
