Thanks to all for the many opinions and advice reference my Ercoupe VFR 24 month Transponder check. As you know I received many different prices ( $197 to $300) from several Avionic shops and as many opinions as to what is required. From taking the transponder out of the aircraft to bench check it to a complete static check as there was no such thing as a VFR transponder check. I checked one more shop today at the Leesburg Va airport, which bases several jets and other large aircraft. I thought they would have an extremely high price . To my surprise I was told the check is done at the aircraft, the transponder is set at 2992 and various altitudes are entered to calibrate the accuracy of the readout. Cost is $ 85 including log book entries. Needless to say the Coupe will be heading to Leesburg next week , which is only a 20 minute flight. Thanks again for all your advice.
