OK, you got me out of my chair and into the back room, digging in my box of
manuals for my copy of “Aircraft Repair Manual” edited by Larry Reithmaier,
1990.

The dawn is beginning to brighten, somewhat.

The first section is a reprint of FAA AC 43.13-1A, complete and unedited.
It’s titled Ácceptable Methods, Techniques, and Practices – Aircraft
Inspection and Repair.”

The second section is a reprint of FAA AC 43.13-2A (a completely different
publication) titled Acceptable Methods, Techniques, and Practices – Aircraft
Alterations.”

OK, I’m catching on.

The link I posted was to the revision of the second document about Aircraft
Alterations, AC 43.13-2B.

But, as you say, 43.13-1B has been cancelled and not replaced. I see that
it has been superseded by 43.13-1B Change 1 (dated 9/9/98 on the title page
and including Change 1 September 27, 2001)

When going to http://rgl.faa.gov <http://rgl.faa.gov/> then

1. click on Advisory Circulars then
2. click on “Historical ACs” then
3. click on Cancellation History then
4. click on the arrow next to AC 43.13-1B CHG 1.

This takes you to a screen that shows you current status of 43.13-1B CHG 1.
You’ll see two line groups for AC 43.13-1B. The upper group is for AC
43.13-1B CHG 1 and shows the green checkmark for “Current”. The lower line
group is for the older 43.13-1A which was cancelled 9/8/98.

GAWD! I’d like to strangle the FAA wienie who devised their regulation, AC
and order numbering system!

So, in summary, it looks like there is a currently in-use version of AC
43.13-1 and that’s available online, the multi-section one to which Percy
referred which is AC 43.13-1B CHG 1.
