My Ercoupe 415D is now in KSIF, Rockingham Co-Shiloh airport. My ferry
pilot left Fri 1800 CT from KCID. He flew over the Smokeys at 9500, at
7500-8000 was the boundary layer of haze and light chop. The ground
level wind was light in Charleston, Beckley, Bluefield. I suggested
that he file a VFR flight plan on the flight over the Smokeys and he
did. When I first spotted it coming in from the NW, I had to wait to be
sure it was him but when it got a little closer, you could tell from
the shape (the dihedral) that it was an Ercoupe and not a Cherokee or
other low winger. A beautiful sight! Thanks again to those you provided
advice for flying over the Smokeys.----Paul Kendrick
