I do not know if this is the proper forum for this post or not, but I am a little desperate.
On a recent cross country flight from Ohio, my ercoupe developed a sticky valve. I was in Swainsboro Georgia at the time. At the same time, I was informed that a friend had passed away at home in Ohio. The mechanic in Swainsboro would not perform the rope trick. My options were to replace the entire cylinder and piston assembly or remove mine and send it out somewhere to be repaired. At least a two week wait on sending it out. A friend in Ohio had a spare cylinder, so we decided to ship it from Ohio to Swainsboro (the breakdown was last friday afternoon, the cylinder was shipped monday). In the meantime, since the Ercoupe was going to be out of commision, I decided to get back to Cleveland to attend my friends funeral. I got to from Swainsboro to Augusta by paying a kid 100 bucks to drive me the 75 miles (the cab company wanted even more, and car rentals are non-existant in Swainsboro) I made it home, went to the funeral, and now I am trying to get back to my ercoupe (the cylinder has been replaced). The problem that I am running into is that I can take a commercial flight to Augusta, but I have no way of getting from Augusta to Swainsboro. Is there anyone on the list that lives nearby that can give me a ride? I will gladly pay the price of fuel. Swainsboro is about 75 miles south-southwest of Augusta. The flights that I am looking at arrive in Augusta Sunday, Tuesday, or Wednesday afternoon. Sorry if this is inapropriate for this forum, but I am out of ideas. Thanks, Fred Wellman
