I just found my ICOM A-200 transmitting problem. I tried to turn
sideways when calling towers, etc and still no one could hear me until
I was about 3 miles out. But I could receive AWOS, other aircraft and
the towers transmissions to other aircraft. Meaning my transmitter was
really weak. So I put it in an Avionics shop at FDK. They just advised
the problem was the coax cable was bent, frayed and overall in bad
shape. They bench checked the radio and it was working as is the
antenna. Replaced the coax and as soon as the rain stops I am on my way
to check it out. Can't remember if or when that cable has been moved,
replaced or damaged.

Thanks to all for your advice. Now I can get into the DCA ADIZ as well
as take the wife to some great lunches at controlled fields.
