As I recall, the battery is specified on the aircraft equipment list, and is 
specified by manufacturer which makes substitution difficult.

        Bill and the group,

        While alternators are neat and modern, I see no reason to change a good 
generator to the alternator system. 

        If we still had tube type radios with lots of current draw,,,,,,,then 
maybe ( particularly if one wanted several radios, and lots of lights,,etc....

        BUT, in my opinion, the generator system of 25 amps is more than 
adaquet to serve the electrical need of the ercoupe using transistor radios.....

        Why spend the $1000 -1500 for an un-needed system ?

        I do agree the electronic generator regulator is intersting...... BUT, 
the original automotive regulator and generator system is more thant adaquet 
for most all Ercoupe applications, now that we are using transistor radios.....

        BTW, I highly advise owners to not utilize lawnmower batteries as a 
cost savings... get a good aviation battery...I like Concord.....
