Hey Carl, 1. You did the right thing by aborting on your mile-long runway if it didn't feel right. 2. No need to guess at the proper RPM. Your owner's manual as the correct static RPM for a 75 HP engine and whatever pitch your prop is. If you don't have the owner's manual surely someone here can tell you the correct minimum/maximum static RPM.
