Linda et. al.
My coupe was towed without my permission after I arrived here in
Naples, FL without my permission which was against the "airport rules".
The next time I flew it, I noticed a pronouced nose wheel shimmy. I
confronted the airport ops people and they denied moving it until I
produced pictures of in in its original and new parking position. They
denied everything and I pointed out to them the operator's manual for
the aircraft states that it should only be hand towed. Too much
mechansm to get looseI suppose. Anyway, it says HAND TOWED only.
The airplane went in for an annual just after this and while there is
some play in the S/AC/RI system, the culprit seemed to be loose nuts on
the nose wheel scissors. I have to tighten them up periodically and
just had another shimmy occur this last weekend. The shimmy occurs
with a slight right cross when I am applying left turn input on the
landing rollout to keep the airplane from weathervaning to the right.
You might want to check the scissors first. My plane is going in for
its annual again and we are going to check everything out thoroughly
and I will let you know if we find anything.
Maybe we'll also figure out whey the #$^$%@&# generator doesn't charge
also.
