The VSI is indicating down 500+ fpm when the aircraft is climbing. I Disconnect the VSI from the static system ( standard Ercoupe system under the wing )and leave the VSI open it to cabin air, and the VSI works ok.
The metal tubing from the static port goes to the airspeed. It is tee'd off to the VSI, Altimeter, and mode C in plastic (not broken) tubing. It appears to be getting positive pressure air from somehwere when connected to the static port tubing. The airspeed and altimeter appear to be close in reading when compared to the GPS in calm wind, and all 4 are connected to the static port. The openings for static under the wing appear ok and open. It is 3 7/8" from the bottom of the wing. I give up. Dick Walker http://www.geocities.com/ercoupe45h/index.html
