I have tried to figure that out for a while. I assume the sellers are people
selling something they do not understand and they buyer purchasing something
they do not understand.  When I restored my plane, most parts came from
Univair and most were not priced too high.  I think people get trapped into
thinking Univair is unreasonable and do not check first.  I am sure there
are lots of other reasons, but overall they do a good job.  I wonder if the
yokes are part of the large order Fred Weick talked about in his
autobiography.  As I recall ERCO placed a large order for yokes (maybe
5,000) that were never used when orders for the airplane suddenly
stopped...  I am sure what you and I have are new old-stock.
