The misunderstanding comes from the fact that the Skyport O200 STC is only approved for the Model D, so it cannot be used to install an O200 in a C or CD (or E, G, F1, A2, A2A or M10). For all these models you have to find another way to justify the installation. The most common route in the past was to obtain a field approval based on the STC. For Cs and CDs the easy way was to convert them to a D and then use the STC. This route does disqualify the plane from LSA. The route I'd suggest today is to apply the 1320# STC, which is essentially a "D" conversion except it does not affect LSA status, then use the STC as a basis to install the engine with a field approval.
