Hi Mike,
As I understand the system, (I have never owned an Alon), the fuselage
tank vents
through a hole in the fuselage cap and the fuselage tank overflows via
a separate
line to both wing tanks. If the fuel system is overfilled when cold,
after the fuel warms
and expands a bit, it exits through the hole in the fuselage cap.
There is, however, a fuselage tank drain line (see Owners Manual page
2-8, item 25).
I would think this intended for removing condensation from the fuselage
tank.
If your bird was modified per Alon Service Bulletin 16, there would be
a second drain
horizontally separated by 1-1/2 to 3" (and an appropriate log book
entry).
Since there is normally low pressure in this area (just behind where
engine cooling
air exits the bottom forward cowl), it would also be an appropriate
place to take the
drain tube from the battery located under the left seat (per p.
20-Service Manual).
Best Regards,
William R. Bayne

Many thanks, reading it now. It is the overflow from the fuselage
tank from
which a few drips of fuel comes from after shutdown.

Hi folks,
On the fuselage underside of my Alon A2 just behind the firewall
there is a small tube sticking out maybe half an inch. Can anyone
tell me what this does or is for.
Many thanks,
Mike
