Bill,

As I have uneven fuel feed issues with my wingtanks, I am always
interested in discussion about Ercoupe fuel system tank
plumbing/venting/caps, etc. There has been much said on this forum
about the simple, but sometimes confusing, fuel system in Ercoupes with
lots of very good information made available by you and others; i.e. new
gaskets, clear vent holes, fuel lines routed and connected correctly,
etc., etc. But I believe this is the first time I have read about "NOT"
having vented caps on 415-CD and D wing tanks. Can you provide us with
a reference source about not having vented caps on CD and D models? All
of my Ercoupe reference books/manuals pertain to the 415-C, which is why
I ask about a reference source. Maybe I have been missing this
information somewhere.

N3378H, s/n 4003 was manufactured in October 1946 as a C, assembled &
converted to a CD in December 1947, and converted to a D in October
1990. The overflow from the header tank has a T fitting routing
overflow fuel to both wing tanks. After a flight there is a difference
of 2 -3 gallons in fuel levels between the wing tanks. Sometimes more
depending on how long the flight is. If I swap caps between the tanks,
the fuel level difference follows; i.e. after a flight the left tank is
more full than the right; when I swap caps and fly the next time, the
right tank is more full than the left.

If it is correct that I should not have vented caps, does anyone have a
couple of unvented wing tank caps they want to trade for vented caps? I
have 4 of them.

Bill, et al, thank you for all of your help.

As always,

AIM HIGH! FLY SAFE!

Willie Topken
