"Larry Kruljac would likely
 have authoritative FAA information on this bird."

Probably correct, because he had a wad of papers with it when I saw it around
2000.

"He may have had a set of the "Carlsbad"
 rectangular wings on it (something only a
 mother could love the appearance of, although 4 sq. ft. more wing
 area and higher gross was worthwhile)."

Larry and his father were experimenting with a unique wing design. It
is significant because it was:
 * All metal
 * Bucked rivet construction with No Place that the rivets could
   not be bucked
 * Slightly more wing area than stock, giving more lift at the same
   speeds.
 * Slightly less weight than stock, according to Larry.

"Love the minutia(sic)"

So do I, (the other) Bill.
