Subject: FW: [ercoupe-tech] Vortex generators

Folks,

For some reason, the text is stripped from all my transmissions thus far.

So, this is one more attempt.

Robert,

Given that a Coupe already will not stall or spin, I cannot really see how
vortex generators could contribute anything useful.

BUT

I'd bet they could really dangerously screw up the sweet handling
characteristics.

REASON

The Coupe non-stalling design is based on a precisely calculated progressive
stall pattern that starts at the fuselage and spreads outward. Before it
can get anywhere near the wing-tips the wing center loses lift, the nose
stops rising, the entire plane descends in a flat attitude, and the
progressive stall is halted and reversed.

If we mess with those precise wing characteristics, my bet is that the coupe
would lose its "characteristic" inability to stall or spin.

I am not being the least bit flippant when I say that the Coupe already has
perfection, in this respect, and any tampering with it would throw away that
perfection with likely fatal results. In short, NOTHING TO GAIN, EVERYTHING
TO LOSE. (As my assistant wisely comments when he notices my wife applying
cosmetics, "Make-up is for the OTHER ladies. Forget it. You CANNOT improve
upon perfection.")

Whatcha think?
