        Around here the birds that are supposed to be the prey of owls sit on 
the fake owls. Our local birds aren't fooled at all. :-)

          Around here we use fake owls.  (Indifferent success.)  But, attaching 
something to the cowling that would rattle and bang or honk or blow pressurized 
air on a regular basis would probably work better.  Electric fence wire works 
great, but it is a pain to mess with.  Besides, sometimes it literally shocks 
the s**t out of them, and that is a whole 'nother mess to deal with.  (Speaking 
from experience in trying to deal with sea gulls on Navy piers.)
