Chris

I have some personal experience with buckling but keep in mind I am not a
mechanic. I had an ercoupe what had perfect skins. It was involved in a very
hard landing where the nose gear partially collapsed. As a result, the there
was a prop strike. The force of the pounding on the main gear and the
additional force of the prop strike caused the engine mounts at the firewall to
wrinkle the firewall as well as the fuselage skins just aft of the firewall, as
noted in the picture you posted. Upon further investigation of the airplane,
we found that the entire fuselage was slightly torqued and there was a small
crack in the rear spar. We had to disassemble the entire airplane to see this
damage as it is not easily apparent. I would suggest you be very careful if
you see this type of wrinkle in the fuselage, near the engine mount attachment
points.
